JobBuddy AI Guide

How to use JobBuddy AI

Think of JobBuddy as your job-search partner. The best results come from using the tools together—not just finding a job and clicking Apply.

Let JobBuddy build your CV for you

Don't have the time or confidence to build your CV yourself? Use Build My CV For Me. Give JobBuddy your real information about your experience, education, skills and goals, and it prepares an ATS-friendly CV for you.

Best practice

  • Give as much detail as you can. More information about responsibilities, achievements and experience produces a more useful CV.
  • You can upload an existing PDF or DOCX for additional context, but the information you provide in the request takes priority.
  • JobBuddy does not invent qualifications, skills, responsibilities or achievements. If information is missing, it uses general wording rather than making something up.
  • One CV Request per Premium billing period is included. Additional CV Requests are R29.99 each.
  • Your completed CV includes one review of the initial CV so you can request improvements before using it.

Improve your CV before applying

Your CV is the foundation of your application. Upload or build your CV in CV Studio, then use Buddy to identify weaknesses and make it stronger for the role you want.

Best practice

  • Keep your CV clear, professional and easy for an ATS to read.
  • Use real experience and achievements—never add skills or experience you do not have.
  • Make improvements before applying rather than sending the same CV everywhere.

Check your match and ATS readiness

Open a job and use JobBuddy's AI analysis to understand how closely your CV fits the role. Look at strengths, missing skills, keywords and improvement suggestions.

Best practice

  • Treat the match score as guidance, not a guarantee of getting an interview.
  • Pay attention to missing keywords and skills that genuinely apply to you.
  • Improve your CV first, then return to the job and reassess it.

Create a tailored cover letter

When a role benefits from a cover letter, generate one around the specific job instead of sending a generic letter. Review it and make sure it accurately represents you.

Best practice

  • Mention the role and the employer where appropriate.
  • Connect your strongest relevant experience to the job requirements.
  • Proofread before sending and remove anything that is not true or relevant.
